Chap. 0436 An Act authorizing persons qualified to vote for members of school committees to vote at the next state election upon the question of granting municipal suffrage to women. Be it enacted, etc., as folloics: Section 1. All persons qualified to vote for school committee shall, at the next state election, have an opportunity to express their opinion by voting "Yes ", or "No ", in answer to the following question : Is it expedient that municipal suffrage be granted to women ? Section 2. Equal opportunity shall be given to men and women to register prior to said election. Section 3. The secretary of the Commonwealth shall, prior to said election, cause to be placed on the official ballot the following words: Is it expedient that ~AES i municipal suffrage be granted to womeu? And -shall also cause other ballots to be prepared for N0, 1 women voters, having thereon the same words. Section 4. Ballots prepared as above-provided shall be furnished by the secretary of the Commonwealth to cities and towns in the same manner that ballots are furnished for use in elections of state officers, and the ballots shall be counted and returned in the same manner as ballots for the election of state officers, except that the votes of men and women shall be returned separately. Section 5. This art shall be subject to the provisions of chapter four hundred and seventeen of the acts of the year eighteen hundred and ninety-three and acts in amendment thereof and in addition thereto, so far as the same are applicable.
