1967 Chap. 0002. An Act establishing the compensation, and the Expense And Travel Allowances Of The Members Of The General Court For The Regular Annual Sessions In The Years Nineteen Hundred And Sixty-seven And Nineteen Hundred And Sixty-eight. Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is, in part, to provide forthwith for the payment of increased compensation and allowances for expenses, travel, lodging and meals to members of the General Court in order to prevent extreme hardship among such members because of the inadequacy of the present scale of such compensation and allowances due to the ever increasing costs of living, board, lodging and travel, therefore it is hereby declared Acts, 1967. Chap. 0002. to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
