Chap. 0235 An Act providing for the payment of witness fees to officers of the division of state police in certain cases. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Chapter 262 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 53A, inserted by chapter 455 of the acts of 1949, the following section: - Section 53B. Any officer of the division of state police, appointed under section nine A of chapter twenty-two, on duty at night, or on vacation or furlough, or on a day off, who attends as a witness in a civil or criminal case pending in a district court or in the superior court, or before any trial justice, shall be allowed a witness fee in the amount of three dollars for each day's attendance .except his first attendance as arresting officer.
