Chap. 275. An Act eelattve to the civil service status of the INVESTIGATING AGENTS IN THE FRAUDULENT CLAIMS BOARD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WELFARE. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Chapter 18 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out section 5A, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 658 of the acts of 1967, and inserting in place thereof the following section: — Section 5A. There shall be a fraudulent claims board, hereinafter called the board, consisting of a chief and seven investigating agents, who shall be appointed by the commissioner subject to the provisions of chapter thirty-one. The board may expend for legal, investigative, clerical and other assistance and expenses such sums as may be appropriated therefor. The board shall investigate complaints which indicate the possibility of a fraudulent claim for welfare assistance or receipt of such welfare assistance by a person not entitled thereto.
