Chap. 4. An Act further defining the word "roster" under THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW AND REQUIRING EACH APPOINTING AUTHORITY TO BE GIVEN A COPY THEREOF. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 31 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out the definition of "Roster", as appearing in section 1 of chapter 703 of the acts of 1945, and inserting in place thereof the following definition: — "Roster", a list of permanent civil service employees in a department, arranged according to seniority, and supplemented by a list of employees appointed on a temporary or provisional basis. Section 2. Section 31B of said chapter 31 is hereby amended by inserting after the word "legal", in line 6, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 165 of the acts of 1941, the words'— , and each appointing authority shall be given a copy of the roster for his department; — and by striking out, in said line 6, the word "He" and inserting in place thereof the words — The director.
