Chap. 407. AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TREASURER OF BRISTOL COUNTY TO PAY A CERTAIN SUM OF MONEY TO COPY PRODUCTS, INC. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section seven teen of chapter thirty-four of the General Laws, or of any other special or general law to the contrary the county treasurer of Bristol county, to fulfill a moral obligation, is hereby authorized to pay out of the treasury of sard county the sum of two thousand two hundred sixty-eight dollars to Copy Products, Inc., for the rental of a copy machine to the Fall River district registry of deeds in the county of Bristol for the period from 1069- May first, nineteen hundred and eighty to July thirty-first, nineteen hundred and eighty-one, inclusive. SECTION 2. No bills shall be approved by the county commissioners of said county or paid by said treasurer under authority of this act unless and until a certificate has been signed and filed with said treasurer stating under penalties of perjury that the goods and services for which said bill was submitted were ordered by an official or an employee of said county and that such goods and services were rendered to said county. SECTION 3. Any person who knowingly files a certificate required by section two, which is false, and who thereby received payment for goods and services which were' not received by or rendered according to the statements required by said section shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars, or both. SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage. Approved October 15, 1982.
