Chap. 721 An Act relative to the eligibility of members of the school committee of the city of peabody to hold certain other positions in said city. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Section 1. Section 37 of chapter 300 of the Special Acts of 1916 is hereby amended by striking out the second sen- tence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence: - No member of the school committee, except the mayor, shall, while a member thereof, hold any other office or position the salary or compensation for which is payable out of the city treasury. Section 2. This act shall be submitted for acceptance to the qualified voters of the city of Peabody at the regular city election to be held in the current year in the form of the following question, which shall be placed upon the official ballot to be used at said election: - "Shall an act passed by the general court in the year nineteen hundred and fifty-five, entitled 'An Act relative to the eligibility of members of the school committee of the city of Peabody to hold certain other positions in said city', be accepted?" If a majority of the votes in answer to said question are in the affirmative, then this act shall take full effect, but not otherwise. Approved August 25, 1955.
