Chap. 0399 An Act increasing the amount of reimbursement to be paid by the commonwealth in providing higher educational opportunities for children of Massachusetts men and women who died in the military or naval service of united states during any war or insurrection, or as a result of such service. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Section 7B of chapter 69 of the General Laws, inserted by section 1 of chapter 548 of the acts of 1946, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 14, the word "two" and inserting in place thereof the word: - three, - so that the second paragraph will read as follows: - Any child who is eligible under this section shall, upon becoming a student in any state or county educational institution or other educational institution approved in writing by the commissioner of education, be entitled to reimbursement by the commonwealth, in an amount not to exceed three hundred and fifty dollars in any year, for expenses for tuition, board and room rent, transportation, and books and supplies necessary or incidental to his pursuit of study at such educational institution. Such reimbursement shall be made to such child, or his guardian, if any, on the presentation of vouchers therefor approved by the said commissioner. Such payments shall continue for the benefit of a child only during such time as he remains a student in good standing in the institution in which he is enrolled, and in no event shall any student receive the benefits provided by this section for more than four years.
