Chap. 0434 An Act providing for the verification of returns of births. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Chapter forty-six of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section four, as appearing in the Tercentenary Edition, the following new section: - Section 4 A. Each town clerk, upon receipt of the return of a birth of a child in his town, shall mail to the parents of such child a form of return to be filled out by the parents and returned to said clerk for the purpose of verifying the original return of said birth or of supplying deficiencies therein. A copy of every such return received from parents who were residents of a town in the commonwealth other than the town in which the child was born shall be sent to the clerk of such other town in case the facts verified in such return differ from the facts stated in the certified copy of the return of such birth made under section twelve. The clerk of the town of residence of the parents of a child born in another town in the commonwealth who has not received from the clerk of the town where the child was bom a verification return hereunder may mail such a form of return to said parents, and, upon receipt of such return filled out by the parents, said clerk shall record the facts contained therein for his records and transmit the return to the clerk of the town in which the child was born.
