Chap. 0215 An Act fixing fees of officers for summoning witnesses IN CRIMINAL CASES. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Section 1. There shall be taxed and allowed to deputy sheriffs, constables and other officers in criminal cases, for summoning witnesses ten cents each, and for travel ten cents a mile each way, for any distance not exceeding twenty miles, and for any excess of distance over twenty miles five cents a mile to be computed each way, and no more; the distance to be computed from the most remote place of service to the place of return ; but upon a subpoena the court to which the same is returnable shall reduce the fee for travel to a reasonable amount for the service performed whenever the travel charged has not been actually performed by the officer who has made the service. Section 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act are repealed. Section 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage. Approved May 12, 1SS2.
