Chapter 30. AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF DARTMOUTH AND THE CITY OF NEW BEDFORD TO ENTER INTO CERTAIN AGREEMENTS RELATIVE TO THE SUPPLY OF CERTAIN SERVICES AND REIMBURSEMENTS THEREFOR. Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to immediately authorize the town of Dartmouth and the city of New Bedford to enter into certain agreements, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: SECTION 1. Chapter seventeen of the acts of nineteen hundred and eighty-eight is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Dartmouth and the city of New Bedford are hereby authorized to enter into agreements for supplying water, sewer, police, fire, rescue, maintenance, ambulance and related services to the New Bedford/Dartmouth Industrial Park, so-called. Said agreements shall include a formula for reimbursements by either the town of Dartmouth or the city of New Bedford to the other for supplying such services to that portion of the said Industrial Park located in the other municipality, or a provision for charging landowners in such portion of the said Industrial Park for such services, or both such a formula and such a provision. The rights to receive such services under said agreements may be extended to landowners in said Industrial Park for a term of up to sixty years. Said agreements shall be subject to the approval of the selectmen of said town of Dartmouth and the mayor and city council of the said city of New Bedford and signed by the chief executive officer of said town and said city. SECTION 3. Section one of this act shall take effect as of April twentieth, nineteen' hundred and eighty-eight. Approved May 10, 1988.
