Chapter 48. AN ACT INCREASING THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF FINES WHICH MAY BE IMPOSED FOR VIOLATIONS OF ORDINANCES IN THE CITY OF BOSTON. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: SECTION l. Section 35 of chapter 448 of the acts of 1854, as amended by chapter 78 of the acts of 1976, is hereby further amended by striking out the second sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- More especially they shall have power to make all such needful and statutory by-laws or ordinances, not inconsistent with the laws of this commonwealth, as towns by the laws of this commonwealth have power to make and establish, and to annex penalties not exceeding three hundred dollars for the breach thereof, which by-laws and ordinances shall take effect and be in force from and after the time therein respectively limited, without the sanction or confirmation of any court or other authority whatsoever. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage. Approved May 4, 1989.
