Cut Slip: Lieutenant Thomas J. Abernethy, West Pembroke, Washingtin Co. Maine. Son of James Abernethy, prominent sardine factory owner and canner at West Pembroke, 14 miles from Eastport. Born at Eastport 23 years ago, educated at schools of Pembroke. Graduate Harvard College, early 1917. Attended Harvard Military Training Camp. Enlisted in the U.S. Flying Corps July 1917. Received his commission Jan. 1918. Went to France March 1918 with 147th Squadron. Officially credited with bringing down three hun planes, and one unofficially. Cited for bravery. Married early 1918 to Miss Edna Stoddard of West Pembroke. From Fred G. Milliken, Eastport, Maine.
