West Stockbridge 353 --Caption title. Width of road: 17 ft. Travelled way: width 17 ft., grade 12 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 6 in., fairly hard, loose stones material: gravel with large stones sides: right, slopes down to gutter then up, left, slopes down to gutter then up gutters: right, 6 in. deep, left, 8 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A fairly good road, bur for loose stones and heavy grade. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
