Width of road: 18 ft. Travelled way: width 6 ft., grade 5 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 18 in., soft, uneven, loose sand with ruts 12 in. deep material: sand with grass growing in it sides: right, gradual slope 3 ft. then down steep, left, gradual slope 9 ft. then down slope gutters: right, natural slope down, left, natural slope down sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A very bad road, for travelled way consists of wheel and horse ruts in the deep, loose sand. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
