Brookfield 48 --Caption title. Width of road: 50 ft. Traveled way: width 36 ft., grade 2 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 4 in., uneven, soft with loose sand 3 in. deep material: sand sides: right, grass bank slopes up 3 in. then down into gutter, left, grass bank slopes down into gutter gutters: right, 10 in. deep, left, 1 ft. deep sidewalks: right, 2 ft. wide, bordered on both sides by grass, left, 6 ft. wide, bordered on both sides by grass. Remarks: Road is very poor. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
