Pittsfield 117 --Caption title. Width of road: 25 ft. Traveled way: width 21 ft., grade 3 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 8 in., hard and smooth where it has been travelled. Like sample 117 material: gravel that makes a hard, smooth road sides: right, grass embankment slopes down, left, grass embankment slopes down gutters: right, natural slope, left, natural slope sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: An excellent gravel road. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
