Chester 100 --Caption title. Width of road: 20 ft. Traveled way: width 15 ft., grade 2 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 5 in., soft, ruts 8 in. deep, loose sand material:brown, loamy sand sides: right, covered with trees, slopes up, left, covered with trees, slopes down gutters: right, 7 in. deep, left, natural slope down sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Road is very soft indeed. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
