Palmer 65 --Caption title. Width of road: 35 ft. Traveled way: width 23 ft., grade 3 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, uneven, rutted, with loose sand and gravel 3 in. deep material: sand with a little gravel sides: right, slopes down to gutter, then level, left, slopes up gutters: right, 3 in. deep, left, none sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Road very poor, hard for teams to haul through. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
