Gardner 189 --Caption title. Width of road: 40 ft. Traveled way: width 34 ft., grade 5 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 6 in., hard and fairly smooth, stones protruding material: gravel on rubble stone base sides: right, slopes up to sidewalk, left, slopes down into gutter gutters: right, 6 in. deep, left, 18 in. deep sidewalks: right, 6 ft. wide, 1 ft. above gutter, left, none. Remarks: Surface is worn down, so stones protrude. It needs to be re-surfaced. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
