Athol 180 --Caption title. Width of road: 20 ft. Traveled way: width 18 ft., grade 0 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, uneven, soft, loose sand and gravel, with ruts 8 in. deep material: sand and gravel sides: right, level with travelled way, left, level with travelled way gutters: right, none, left, none sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A very poor road, for sand and gravel mixed are hard to haul through. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
