Cheshire 123 --Caption title. Width of road: 30 ft. Traveled way: width 17 ft., grade 15 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 1 ft., uneven, very rough, soft, loose, coarse gravel and stones, ruts and holes 14 in. deep material: coarse gravel, soft sides: right, slopes up from gutter, left, slopes up from gutter gutters: right, 18 in. deep, left, 14 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Road is dangerous to horses and bad for carriages. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
