Spencer 43 --Caption title. Width of road: 31 ft. Traveled way: width 31 ft., grade 0 ft. per 100. Surface: 4 in. lower in centre than sides, soft with loose sand gravel and stones 5 in. deep material: sand with some gravel on ledge foundation sides: right, natural ledge slopes up, left, grass bank slopes up 18 in. then slopes down gutters: right, none, left, none sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: road in poor condition. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
