Shelburne 156 --Caption title. Width of road: 15 ft. Traveled way: width 12 ft., grade 5 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, uneven, loose sand, ruts 5 in. deep material: sand on gravel base sides: right, slopes down natural slope, left, slopes up from edge of travelled way gutters: right, natural slope, left, none sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A very poor road, for surface water washes across it. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
