Westfield 86 --Caption title. Width of road: 40 ft. Traveled way: width 25 ft., grade 2 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 4 in., uneven, soft, with loose sand and stones 4 in. deep material: sand and coarse gravel sides: right, grass bank slopes down into gutter, left, grass bank slopes down into gutter then up gutters: right, 14 in. deep, left, 7 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: All adjacent soil is sand. Road is poor. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
