Framingham 15 --Caption title. Width of road: 30 ft. Traveled way: width 30 ft., grade 4 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 2 1/2 ft., uneven, soft in centre, hard on sides material: gravel and loam sides: right, slopes down to marsh, left, slopes down to marsh gutters: right, at foot of embankment, left, at foot of embankment sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Road is very rough. The crown is so great that a team, unless driving in centre, tips, causing great strains on axles and wheels. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
