Charlmont 147 --Caption title. Width of road: 20 ft. Traveled way: width 12 ft., grade 0 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, sloping to right, uneven, loose sand and gravel, ruts 10 in. deep material: sand and gravel sides: right, slopes down, left, slopes up gutters: right, gradual slope down, left, none sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A very poor road, as ruts are so deep water stands in them and does not drain off. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
