Worcester 34 -- Caption title. Width of road: 41 ft. Traveled way: width 25 ft., grade 2 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 18 in., very rough, covered with large, loose stones material: gravel with large stones on base of dirt and slag sides: right, slopes up from car track, left, slopes up to sidewalk gutters: right, concreted car track acts as gutter, left, 18 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, 8 ft wide, 7 in. above gutter. Remarks: Travelled way [dimensions] does not include car tracks. Car tracks are 2 ft. lower than highest part of road. Great convexity causes teams to tip to one side. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
