Shelburne 159 --Caption title. Width of road: 15 ft. Traveled way: width 15 ft., grade 5 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 6 in., fairly hard with a few loose stones material: loam and gravel sides: right, slopes up from gutter, left, slopes up 6 in. then down natural slope gutters: right, 10 in. deep, left, 8 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Embankment on left side prevents water flowing down natural slope. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
