Width of road: 20 ft. Travelled way: width 19 ft., grade 10 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 1 ft. 6 in., soft mud 5 in. deep material: gravel and clay, soft sides: right, slopes down to gutter then up, left, slopes down to gutter then up gutters: right, 2 ft. 3 in. deep, left, 1 ft 10 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A very poor road, for it is very slippery and grade is heavy. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
