Shirley 203 --Caption title. Width of road: 25 ft. Traveled way: width 15 ft., grade 0 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, uneven, soft, loose sand and gravel 6 in. deep material: sand with a little gravel sides: right, slopes down, then level, left, slopes down, then level gutters: right, 10 in. deep, left, 8 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A very poor road. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
