Erving 172 --Caption title. Width of road: 12 ft. Traveled way: width 12 ft., grade 3 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, uneven, soft, loose sand and gravel with ruts 9 in. deep material: sand and flint gravel on gravel base sides: right, grass embankment slopes down, left, grass embankment slopes down gutters: right, natural slope down, left, natural slope down sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Road is very poor. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
