Arlington 221 --Caption title. Width of road: 70 ft. Travelled way: width 50 ft., grade 0 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 6 in., paved double car tracks in centre, hard macadam sides material: broken stone sides: right, curbstone 8 in. high, left, curbstone 6 in. high gutters: right, 6 in. deep, left, 6 in. deep sidewalks: right, 9 ft. wide, 8 in. above gutter, left, 9 ft wide, 6 in. above gutter. Remarks: A good smooth surface on either side of car tracks, with pitch enough for good drainage. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
