Shelburne 158 --Caption title. Width of road: 25 ft. Traveled way: width 15 ft., grade 2 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 6 in., soft, loose sand and gravel 4 in. deep material: sand with a small per cent. of gravel sides: right, slopes up from gutter, left, slopes up from gutter gutters: right, 11 in. deep, left, 14 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Sand is so fine it will not track. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
