Erving 169 --Caption title. Width of road: 15 ft. Traveled way: width 15 ft., grade 3 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 6 in., soft, loose gravel and sand with ruts 6 in. deep material: gravel and sand sides: right, slopes down from edge of road, left, slopes up from gutter gutters: right, natural slope down, left, 1 ft. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: A good gravel bank is on the right, yet the road is mostly sand. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
