Pittsfield 120 --Caption title. Width of road: 20 ft. Traveled way: width 15 ft., grade 3 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 3 in., uneven, loose sand with ruts 5 in. deep material: sand sides: right, slopes up from gutter, left, slopes down natural slope gutters: right, 7 in. deep, left, natural slope down sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Adjacent soil is all sand. Very little has been done to build road, except to cut away bushes and trees. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
