Chester 103 --Caption title. Width of road: 40 ft. Traveled way: width 18 ft., grade 1 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 5 in., soft loose sand rutted 6 in. deep material: fine sand sides: right, turf slopes down into gutter then up, left, turf slopes down into gutter then up to R.R. gutters: right, 1 ft. deep, left, 14 in. deep sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: Between stations no's 102 and 103 sand is very deep. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
