Russell 96 --Caption title. Width of road: 20 ft. Traveled way: width 18 ft., grade 2 ft. per 100. Surface: flat, very uneven, soft sand, ruts 14 in. deep material: loamy sand sides: right, slopes up, left, slopes up gutters: right, none, left, none sidewalks: right, none, left, none. Remarks: between stations no's 95 and 96 road has grade of 10 ft. per 100, with loose sand, rutted 10 in. deep. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
