dc.description.notesManuscript (2 pages) in beginning folio blank book of about 100 pages, with a few lines on multiple pages relating to Alexander Smith, [alias] John Adams. A short list of Tahitian words with English translation in back pages. Newspaper clipping dated July 29, 1881, a narrative of the manuscript naming Daniel Seagrave as its owner. Photocopies of several pages from Lady Diana Belcher's book, "The mutineers of the Bounty and their descendents in Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands" are included.
dc.description.notesInside of one cover has date of Quintal's birth and of three of his children: Matthew [junior], John (died about two months later), and Sarah. The children are all listed as born at Pitcairn Island, South Seas. Inside of the other cover reads: Matthew Quintrell, his book. Like Quintal, Alexander Smith (John Adams) also wrote his own birthdate and birthplace in the manuscript.
