Chap. 0068 An act to authorize the Vermont and Massachusetts railroad company to take land in fitchburg for depot and other purposes. Be it enacted, Src, as folloivs : Section 1. The Vermont and Massachusetts Railroad Company are hereby authorized to purchase, or otherwise take, so much land between Laurel and South Streets in the town of Fitchburg, including a small parcel adjoining the land of said company on the easterly side of South Street, including in all not over one acre, for depot, station or track purposes, and to construct additional tracks thereon, crossing said Laurel and South Streets at the grade thereof: provided, that laud taken or purchased under this act shall not be exempt from taxation. Section 2. Said corporation shall, in relation to such land, be entitled to all the rights and privileges, and be subject to all the duties, liabilities and restrictions set forth in all general laws which now are or may hereafter be in force relating to such corporations. Section 3. All persons who shall sustain any damage in their property by the taking of such land, shall have all the rights and remedies given by the general laws. Section 4. This aet shall take effect upon its passage. Approved March 10, I860.
