Chap. 0172 An Act to incorporate the Pilgrim Congregational Society in Boston. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : Section 1. John A. Cummings, David Thayer, Carmi E. King, their associates and successors, are hereby made a corporation, by the name of The Pilgrim Congregational Society in Boston, with all the powers and privileges, and subject to all the restrictions, duties and liabilities, set forth in the forty-fourth chapter of the Revised Statutes, so far as the same are applicable to this case. Section 2. Said corporation may hold real and personal estate, exclusive of their meeting-house and land necessary for the accommodation of the same, to an amount not exceeding twenty thousand dollars, the whole of which shall be applied towards the support of public worship, and other parochial purposes. Section 3. This act shall take effect from and after its passage. [Approved by the Governor, April 3, 1846.]
