Chap. 0289 An Act relative to the use of the flag of the united states. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Section 1. Section five of chapter two hundred and six of the Revised Laws, as amended by chapters four hundred and sixty-four and six hundred and four of the acts of the year nineteen hundred and thirteen, by chapter five hundred and seventy of the acts of the year nineteen hundred and fourteen, and by chapter two hundred and sixty-five of the General Acts of the year nineteen hundred and seventeen, shall not be construed to apply to any newspaper, periodical, book, pamphlet, certificate, diploma, warrant, or commission of appointment to office, ornamental picture, article of jewelry, or stationery for use in correspondence, on which is printed, painted, or placed the flag of the United States of America not connected with any advertisement, and not used for advertising purposes. Section 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage. Approved May 24, 1917.
