Chap. 0490 An Act relative to reimbursement of cities and towns in connection with payments made under the old age assistance law. Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would prevent the immediate establishment of a method of state reimbursement of cities and towns for old age assistance, so called, which will be in conformity with established practice, therefore this act is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: Section eight of chapter one hundred and eighteen A of the General Laws, as most recently amended by section eight of chapter seven hundred and twenty-nine of the acts of nineteen hundred and forty-one, is hereby further amended by inserting after the third sentence the two following sentences : - The approval of accounts by the department under this chapter shall have the effect of a provisional pre-audit of such accounts, and reimbursements based thereon shall -be subject to verification and adjustment by the department. Such adjustments shall be made by reducing or increasing any subsequent reimbursements under this chapter by the amount of such adjustment. Approved June 9, 1943.
