Chap. 0130 An Act to incorporate the Prison Discipline Society. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in General Court assembled, and by Die authority of the same, as follows : Sect. 1. Amos Lawrence, Samuel T. Armstrong, Louis Dwight, their associates and successors, are hereby made a corporation, by the name of the Prison Discipline Society, for the purpose of improving prisons ; with all the powers and privi- leges, and subject to all the duties, restrictions and liabilities set forth in the forty-fourth chapter of the Revised Statutes. Sect. 2. The said society may hold real estate not exceeding the value of fifty thousand dollars, and personal estate not exceeding the value of fifty thousand dollars. Sect. 3. The said corporation shall continue for the term of thirty years. [April 8, 1839.]
