Chap. 0141. An Act authorizing the several Insurance Companies in this Commonwealth, to Insure against Fire. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, That the several Insurance Companies, incorporated within this Commonwealth, be, and they hereby are authorized, in addition to the powers granted by their respective charters, to make insurance against fire, on such terms and conditions Insurance, as may be agreed upon by the parties, on any dwelling houses, or other buildings, and on merchandize, or other property, within the United States : Provided, alicays, that no sum shall be insured, on any one risk against fire, exceeding ten per centum of the capital stock, actually paid in, of said Insurance Companies, Pro(tm)?, respectively.
