Chap. 0184 An Act authorizing the city of boston to loan its credit or subscribe to the capital stock of the troy and greenfield railroad company. Be it enacted, fyc, as follows : Section 1. The city of Boston is hereby authorized, at any time within two years from the passage of tttliis act, to loan its credit or to subscribe to the capital stock of the Troy and Greenfield Railroad Company, to an amount not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars in the whole, upon such terms as the city council of said city and the Troy and Greenfield Railroad Company shall agree ; and for such purpose to issue the bonds or scrip of said city, in such form, of such description, and on such times of payment as the said city council shall determine. Section 2. No such loan or subscription shall be made, until the terms and conditions thereof, as agreed upon by said city council and said company, have been submitted to and ratified by the legal voters of said city, at ward meetings duly notified for that purpose; which meetings shall be notified and held, and the aforesaid matters submitted and acted on, in such manner as the mayor and aldermen of said city shall prescribe.
